Adult Sunday School

When Jesus started His ministry, the very first thing He did was form a small group.  Proverbs 27:27 says “Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”  Jesus understood that occurred only as the two pieces of iron were in frequent contact with one another.  The Bible calls us to imitate Christ (1 Cor. 11:1, Eph. 5:1), and so if Christ lived out life with his disciples in a small group, so should we!  In fact, John Wesley wasn’t persuaded that someone had made a decision for Christ until that person became involved in a small group.  And so, we at Crossway Baptist, place a HUGE emphasis on living life out together in small groups.

Our main small group emphasis is Sunday School.  Beginning at 9:30 am every Sunday AM, the members of Crossway can be found living life out in small groups – from Children to Youth to College & Career to Adults.  This is not only a time of feasting on God’s Word together as a group that we may be “rooted and built up in {Christ} and established in the faith” (Col. 2:7), but also a time of blessed fellowship, prayer, accountability, encouragement & edification (1 Thess. 5:11) “that we may present everyone mature in Christ” (Col. 1:28).

Adult Sunday School uses the B-I-B-L-E (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) as their curriculum.  We pick a book of the Bible and systematically go through it verse by verse – reading it, studying it, applying it in a group discussion format.

Adult Small Group Bible Study

When Paul wrote the letter of Galatians “to the churches of Galatia,” many Christians today would be shocked to learn that he was not writing to First Baptist Church on Main Street in the city of Galatia!  Almost all of the NT churches met in a home & Galatia was no exception.  Does this same desire, to live life out together in small groups as we open our homes one to the other, exist today in the 21st century church as it did then in the 1st century church?!  It does as Crossway!

Thus, once a week, on Tuesday nights at 6:30pm, members open their homes one to another that we might come together in a wonderful time not just of Bible Study but of getting to know each other on a more personal level and more importantly getting to know our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on a deeper, more personal level also.  Do you feel more comfortable & open to connecting in a home before you are willing & open to visiting our church?  Then, Tuesday nights are just for you!  Click on our calendar in order to find the location & address of this week’s small group meeting!

Wednesday Night Prayer

We at Crossway feel that if our Lord & Savior took prayer VERY serious, then we too should take prayer VERY serious!  Jesus, in fact, said “My house shall be called a house of prayer” (Matt. 21:13) and that our prayers are an act of worship that bring glory to the Father (Jn. 14:13-14).  James, the half-brother of Jesus, encourages us with these words: “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).  If God’s house is to be a house of prayer for it is an act of worship that brings glory to God & prayer is perhaps the greatest power on the whole planet, should we not give GREAT priority to the place of prayer?  This is why we at Crossway since our inception have chosen to dedicate every Wednesday PM as a prayer service.  In that hour, we come together corporately to lift our voices in Praise, Confession, Petition, Intercession, & Thanksgiving to the God who is not only “most worthy of praise” (1 Chr. 16:23-31) but to the God who also is “able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think” (Eph. 3:20).

Men’s Ministry

Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another”. A group of men set out to make disciples and sharpen each other while growing in our knowledge of God’s word.
